Home-made bomb parts discovered in Dublin

Parts of a home-made bomb have been discovered on the North Strand Road in Dublin.

The Army bomb disposal team responded to reports of a device in the area just after 11 o'clock this morning.

The area was declared safe just after 1pm and the device was taken away for a technical examination.

A spokesperson for the Defence Forces says the device was not viable but contained the component parts of a home-made bomb.

The area had been sealed off for a time earlier and traffic restrictions were in place.

They have now been lifted.
