Hogan gives councils €850k to clear litter and graffiti

Local authorities are being allocated a total of €850,000 to help them deal with litter and graffiti.

The Minister for the Enviroment Phil Hogan says the grant scheme has particular focus on voluntary initiatives involving schools, young people and community groups.

Today's allocation is in addition to almost €3m announced last week under the Public Area Enhancement Scheme, and the €3.8m to help local authorities improve, clean and maintain their public areas.
