Higgins replaces Donnelly on banking inquiry

Joe Higgins has been officially appointed to the banking inquiry.

The Socialist Party TD was rubber-stamped as the placement to Stephen Donnelly by the Dáil this afternoon.

His appointment was approved unanimously, without the need for a vote.

Despite complaints about moves to guarantee a Government majority, Opposition parties are now set to co-operate fully with the inquiry and are keen to proceed with public hearings as soon as possible.
