Hepatitis C sufferer who bit garda jailed for 18 months
A Hepatitis C sufferer has been jailed for 18 months for biting a Garda while she was being arrested inside the Jervis Shopping Centre in Dublin.
Carol Rooney of Orchid House, James Street, bit the officer's hand after he responded to reports of an attack on a security guard on June 12 last year.
The Garda had to undergo treatment at the Infectious Diseases Clinic in the Mater Hospital.
Rooney (aged 28) apologised for her actions in court today and said she was appalled when she saw the CCTV footage of what she had done.
