Health to get €1bn funding boost in tomorrow’s estimates

An extra €1bn will go towards healthcare in tomorrow's budget estimates, according to Minister for Health Mary Harney.

An extra €1bn will go towards healthcare in tomorrow's budget estimates, according to Minister for Health Mary Harney.

Ms Harney says the funding boost will bring the total spend on health to around €14bn in 2007.

One quarter of all Government money is spent on the health system and the minister says the A&E crisis and care of the elderly will be among the areas prioritised for receipt of the extra funds.
