Met Éireann has issued yellow wind warnings for several areas.

It is warning of high winds in Donegal, Clare, Kerry, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

The forecaster says winds could reach up to 65 kilometres an hour - and gusts of up to 100 kilometres an hour at times.

The warnings are in effect until 9pm in Donegal and until 6pm in the other affected counties.

Off the coast, a gale warning is in place, with southerly gales to develop on all coastal waters and on the Irish Sea.

Winds will veer southwest later today and will continue gale force on coasts from Erris Head to Rossan Point to Malin Head.
