Harney hoping to introduce doctor-only medical cards in April
02/02/2005 - 13:26:40Health Minister Mary Harney has announced plans to introduce so-called doctor-only medical cards in April of this year.
Holders of these medical cards will be allowed to visit GPs free of charge, but they will still have to pay for their medicines.
The cards will be made available to 230,000 people who are just outside the existing income threshold for full medical cards.
Ms Harney said today that she was currently preparing legislation with a view to introducing the new cards in April.
