Harcourt Square garda station to close in weeks - but 1,000 staff still don't know where they're transferring to

The Garda Representative Association has raised serious concerns about plans to close one of the country's biggest stations.

More than 1,000 staff, including up to 600 gardaí, work at Harcourt Square garda station which is due to close this month.

But the GRA said the rank and file still had not been told where they are moving to.

The station houses a number of key national Garda units including the Criminal Assets Bureau.

Detective Michael Kilfeather said there was a critical lack of information about plans for the station's personnel.

He said: "We believe it's been deferred, but the staff don't know when we're going, or where we're going to.

"You've got about 1,080 people working there between gardaí of all ranks, and civilians. You've some serious investigations going on from there. We just want to know what the plan is and where are we going to go."
