The Deputy State Pathologist has carried out some tests on the remains of a man found in Dublin this morning.

A passerby raised the alarm after spotting him on a small green area at Cherry Orchard Parade in Ballyfermot at around 6.30am.

A gun was found nearby.

Gardaí are awaiting the results of the preliminary examinations carried out at the scene before deciding whether to launch a criminal investigation.
