The Minister for Health Dr James Reilly has said the group tasked with examining options for the new National Children's Hospital will report back to him on May 2.
The options now include the possibility of the hospital being built on a greenfield site in Dublin or co-location with another hospital outside of the Mater.
An Bord Pleanala recently rejected the existing Mater hospital plan sending the entire project back to the drawing board.
This morning, the Minister said the primary objective remains to have the hospital built as soon as possible.
