Group supporting Quinn family want 'natural justice'
A group that has raised €2m for the indebted Quinn family has said it is carrying out a service to the Irish taxpayer.
Concerned Irish Businesses (CIB) was set up to support the Quinns' plan for Quinn Insurance, put forward by the family as a way to save the company, through repaying their debts over a seven-year period.
The group, which now raises money to help fund the Quinns' legal costs, claims to have the support of about 500 businesses from right across the country.
Sean Quinn's children were at the commercial court this week, seeking the removal of the receiver appointed to the group, and they have been ordered to bring a motion seeking his removal to the court next month.
Adrian McCaffery, a spokesperson for CIB, has said his group is seeking natural justice.
Mr McCaffery said: "I suppose the courts have already determined that the Quinn family have a legitimate case in regards to the €2.3bn loan. And that Anglo Irish Bank has serious questions to answer.
"I suppose that is being seen with the arrest and charge of the former senior management of Anglo and all people really want is natural justice. That case should be heard in the interests of the Irish people, not alone in the interests of the Quinn family, but also in the interests of the Irish people."
