Group highlights widening gap between rich and poor
Social Justice Ireland is calling on the Government to address the widening income gap between the rich and the poor.
The independent organisation has compiled a report from CSO figures which shows that the incomes of the poorest fell by 18% in the last year while incomes of the richest households rose by 4%.
Dr Sean Healy, Director of Social Justice Ireland, has said the current strategy of cuts being pursued by the Government is making the situation worse.
He said everyone has the right to a decent income.
