The group representing migrant women in Ireland has said non-nationals need extra help in Irish hospitals.

AkiDwA's claims coincide with today's inquest into the death of a Nigerian woman who died in a Dublin hospital three years ago.

The Coroner's Court is to hear the case of Bimbo Onanuga who collapsed in the Rotunda before being transferred to the nearby Mater Hospital where she was pronounced dead in March 2010.

Bimbo was almost 30 weeks pregnant when she was admitted to the Rotunda Hospital with an intrauterine foetal death.

Spokesperson for AkiDwA, Salome Mbugua, said medical staff need to be educated on how to deal with patients from other countries.
