The Green Party has said the GSOC should investigate the actions of the Garda Public Order Unit during disturbances in central Dublin yesterday.
An RTE cameramen was reportedly injured in chaotic scenes as Gardaí used batons to separate a group of anti-racism protesters from members of the far-right group Pegida.
Green Party Councillor Ciaran Cuffe, was at the rally and said the Garda Ombudsman should investigate: “The overall Gardaí presence that I saw there was well behaved, when I was on O’Connell Street.
“But I think certainly it would be appropriate for the An Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission to investigate these reports that an RTÉ camera man was injured in yesterday’s disturbances.”
