The National Association of General Practitioners AGM is getting underway where the problem with overcrowding will top the agenda.
It comes as a number of hospitals had to postpone non-urgent procedures recently as the numbers waiting on trolleys soared.
Dr Emmet Kerin from the NAGP has said that the lack of Government investment in surgeries here is a major problem.
He has said GPs should be front of a healthcare solution; “We are continuing to really suffer from the lack of investment and resourcing in general practice.
“Best practice certainly pints to GP led primary care services as a solution and what we are really looking for at this AGM is a move in the conversation to put general practice at the front of a health care solution.”
