Govt to unveil map showing where high-speed internet will be brought in

The Government is to unveil the next phase of the national Broadband plan today.

The public will be shown a map of where high-speed internet connections will be introduced by the end of 2016.

People will also find out the areas that will need State intervention to reach the same standard.

Up to €500m is being invested in the scheme providing high-speed Broadband to all homes, schools and businesses in locations that commercial operators do not consider viable.

Conor Healy, the CEO of Cork Chamber of Commerce, says businesses outside the cities need better internet.
