Govt 'must get unemployed back to work'
19/01/2010 - 07:33:34The Government is being warned that it must produce a strategy to get the unemployed back to work as soon as possible.
The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed said people are facing the prospect of long-term unemployment unless a meaningful scheme is put in place to get workers off the dole.
The INOU is planning to protest outside the Dáil later today over the social welfare cuts introduced in last December's budget.
It comes as TDs return to work after the Christmas holidays.
"We'd be very concerned that we may see a return to economic growth, but we may not see a return to job growth," said INOU spokesperson Bríd O'Brien.
