Government won't flinch from budget cuts - Gilmore

The Tánaiste says the coalition will not flinch from the tough decisions needed to make a €3.5bn adjustment in December's budget.

Eamon Gilmore has also dismissed the prospect of a Cabinet reshuffle saying the Taoiseach 'makes very good jokes'.

Speaking at the start of his party's two-day meeting in Kildare, Gilmore says he is satisfied an affordable property tax will be introduced next year.

Gilmore also said his party is united and determined to do the job of running the country.

“Everybody knows that it’s difficult work and everybody knows the decisions we have to make in government are difficult. But we’re not going to flinch from them and we’re going to do the job we’re elected to do.”
