The Government will not oppose a Bill from the Labour Party aimed at banning rogue crisis pregnancy agencies.

The legislation was put forward after an undercover investigation exposed a clinic in Dublin telling women that an abortion could cause breast cancer and even turn women into child abusers.

Children's Minister Katherine Zappone says the Government will not oppose the legislation when it comes before the Dáil.

"I am delighted that the Government has decided to support that Bill," she said.

"I commend Mr Howlin for bringing that forward so quickly in response to issues raised by the media.

"It is another action that we need to put in place in order to ensure the rights of pregnant women."
