Government told to reign in health spending
The government has passed the latest review of the bailout deal, but has been told to reign in health spending.
Ministers have said that steps will now be taken by the end of September to curb a €280-million overspend in the health service.
The government also said that it will begin selling state assets next year, and will introduce measures to get people off the live register such as increasing places on training courses.
Fianna Fáil's finance spokesman Michael McGrath said that the Health Minister must now spell out how he is going to reign in the health budget before the end of September:
