Government talks with unions continue into night
A final push to secure agreement with unions on cutting the public-service pay bill will be made by Government this morning.
Talks continued until the early hours, with unions setting yet another deadline of later today to reach a deal.
The marathon 16-hour session of talks failed to reach an agreement however..
Sources say that unions are confident they are putting all the pieces of the jigsaw in place, however.
Reforms in most areas of the public sector have now been put forward, though health continues to be a sticking point.
If that is ready later this morning, IMPACT's Peter McLoone believes they can move to a conclusion.
However, he is that insisting unpaid holidays for public servants remains part of this deal, despite a backlash from the public voiced by Fianna Fáil backbenchers.
