Fianna Fáil's Communications Spokesperson has called on the Government to explain itself after reports that the planned Broadcasting Charge is to be scrapped.
The proposed €160 charge was to be a replacement for the TV licence fee, and would be imposed in January on all eligible households,

According to reports in the Irish Mail on Sunday, Fine Gael Ministers have now said that it has been scrapped.
"Well, first of all I think that the Government needs to come clean, and say are they going to [drop the charge], what is their current policy as of late November 2014 in relation to this issue, and come clean on it and explain why the change of heart, why have they changed their minds on it, and what are they hiding behind," said Michael Moynihan TD.
