Government approves draft of inquiry legislation31/10/2012 - 16:46:31
The government has approved the drafting of new legislation allowing it to hold inquiries into the conduct of office holders and other matters of public importance.
The new Inquiries Bill allows for investigations relating to the removal of judges and high office holders - including the President - for reasons provided for under the constitution.
It also provides scope for investigating the banking collapse, by allowing for "inquire, record and report" style inquiries to make findings of uncontested fact.
