The Government has agreed the terms of reference for the River Shannon Flood Risk Co-ordination group.

Government announces plan for new group to combat  River Shannon flooding

The Government has agreed the terms of reference for the River Shannon Flood Risk Co-ordination group.

The group, which will be chaired by the chairman of the Office of Public Works, will comprise of all State agencies with a role in the flood risk management of the Shannon Catchment.

The group will provide and develop guidelines to assist better co-ordination between State agencies and will also publish a quarterly report on the progress of its plan.

The first meeting of the group will be take place next week.

The announcement comes almost eight weeks since Storm Desmond hit parts of the midlands with severe flooding.
