Green Party leader John Gormley has called for all politicians to state their views on the Poolbeg incinerator in Dublin.
It emerged today that taxpayers could be exposed to financial penalties in the region of €350m - €400m over a 25-year period, if the volume of waste being incinerated there falls short of the amounts agreed in the contract with US firm Covanta.
Waste volumes would have to increase again at Celtic tiger rates for the next 25 years to avoid the financial penalties.
Deputy Gormley said all of those standing for election must make their views on the project known.
