The head of the IMF Christine Lagarde said "good beers" were a factor in helping Ireland's bailout programme to work.
Ms Lagarde made the comment at the end of an IMF summit in Dublin discussing what other countries could learn from Ireland.
She said good chemistry between politicians was an important part of making a bailout work.
"Thanks to - not just good beers at the pub after meetings - but also the chemistry between the Irish authorities, the civil servants and members of the Troika the chemistry actually worked and produced trust."
