Gofundme page set up for ‘Guardian angel’ who saved toddler from drowning in the river Lee

A Gofundme page has been set up for the brave Cork woman who jumped into the river Lee to save a drowning toddler last week.

Adrianna Watters, who is the mother of Caleb Watters, the three-year-old who fell 15 feet into the river set up the account in an attempt to pay back Maria Foley for her selfless act.

Adrianna set up the page six days ago for the woman she describes as a “true hero and our guardian angel.”

Already there is almost €3,000 raised from kind-hearted strangers, some donating €100 and €200 to the mother of 13.

The Gofundme page target is €13,000, as Maria has 13 children and Caleb’s brother Felan has organised a non-uniform day at his school next Tuesday to raise money for the cause.

Felan attends St Luke’s national school.

Adrianna said: “The money is for Maria and her family as a thank you and recognition for her selfless act of bravery. It's the least we can do.”

Thankfully Caleb is doing fine since his ordeal, although his mother tells us he has developed a fever and a cough since falling into the river, however the doctor says he will be fine.

Anyone who would like to contribute to the page can do so by clicking here.
