Gilmore: Govt not suppressing council planning inquiries

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore has rejected opposition claims of an attempt of a cover-up or suppression in planning inquiries.
Fianna Fáil said the coalition has effectively halted several inquiries into possible planning irregularities in councils around the country.
The inquires were announced by former Minister John Gormley in June 2010.
But speaking in the Dáil today, Mr Gilmore told Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin that no further work was done on them, and the Government is working out how best to proceed.
"There is no planning inquiry being suppressed, Deputy Martin," he said.
"The reviews are being conducted at the Department of the Environment, and when that process is completed there will be a full public statement made which will set out in full the complaints which were made, the action that was taken… and then what further action might need to be taken."
