Gilmore: FG and Labour can form stable Government

Eamon Gilmore has today refuted Fianna Fáil's claims that a coalition of Fine Gael and Labour would be unstable.
After several days of attack and counterattack, the Labour leader today focused on the common ground between the parties but said he could not understand why Fine Gael plans to cut child benefit.
He also said he was surprised that Fine Gael had put trade unions in the same boat as bankers and developers.
“Well, I think after the election I think what we have to look at is on what basis is a fair and balanced Government going to be formed, and I think the most stable Government that the country can have after the election is a fair and a balanced Government and for that to happen the Labour Party has to form part of it,” said Gilmore.
“I don’t think that it is desirable that any one party would have a monopoly of power.”
