Shatter rejects 'astonishing' call for Reilly's resignation
Calls for the Health Minister Dr James Reilly to resign have been rejected by the Justice Minister.
Yesterday, the Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin criticised Dr Reilly and said he had had lost control of his department.
Minister Reilly has come under scrutiny in relation to the deficit in the health sector.
However, the Justice Minister Alan Shatter hit out at Deputy Martin's comments describing his remarks as "astonishing".
Mr Shatter said Mr Martin "has no sense of shame and remains in denial of the impact of his party’s incompetence".
Meanwhile, the Sinn Féín President Gerry Adams has said Mr Martin's call for the health minister to resign missed the point.
He said a change of government is needed and not a new Health Minister.
