Gay rights activist calls for bill allowing gay marriage
Gay rights activist Rory O'Neill has called on the Government to drop the proposed referendum on gay marriage.
Legal opinion is divided on whether a referendum is actually required and Mr O'Neill, who also goes by the stage name Panti Bliss, says the Government should be brave on this issue and introduce legislation now.
Speaking On the Ray D'Arcy show on Today FM, Mr O'Neill said if the Government believes in equality it should go ahead and draw up a bill allowing for gay marriage.
