Thousands of people are expected to attend today's annual Dublin Pride Parade, which is now in its 26th year.

This year's theme is "Pride and Prejudice" and will celebrate literary gay icons throughout history.

It will coincide with several other gay pride parades around the world to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York.

The parade follows the publication of the Civil Partnership Bill which provides for equal treatment for same sex couples in a number of areas of law including tax, pensions and inheritance.

But Director of Marriage Equality, Moninne Griffith says the Bill is not a cause for celebration.
