Gardaí treating Kinsale deaths 'as seriously as murder inquiry'12/09/2012 - 13:43:39
Gardaí in Cork said today that they are treating the investigation into the deaths of two men in Kinsale last weekend as seriously as they would a murder inquiry.
It is thought a new street drug called "MANDY" may be linked to the deaths of Michael Coleman and Liam Coffey whose bodies were found on Sunday morning.
The HSE last night issued a warning about the dangers of a brown powder which contains MDMA and PMA or PMMA.
There have been cases of other deaths reported from the combination of the two chemical compounds across Europe.
Superintendent Eddie McKeown from Bandon Garda Station says it is essential that the MANDY compound is taken out of circulation.
"We're doing everything in our power to have this stuff removed off the streets," he said.
"I would appeal to anybody who has any information in relation to this drug, or any other drug, to contact either their local garda station, to contact us here in Bandon or to contact the Garda Confidential Line, 1800 66 111, and arrangements can be made to have these drugs taken off the streets."
