Gardaí in Clare are treating the discovery of two bodies in Kildysart as suspicious.

Gardaí discovered an injured woman, said to be 44 years old, on Main Street in Kildysart at 7.30pm and then also became aware of a male, 27, in a serious condition in nearby a house.

Despite efforts to save the pair, they were pronounced dead a short time later by a local doctor.

The bodies remain at the scene which has been sealed off for a technical examination. The Office of the State Pathologist has been contacted in relation to the incident.

No third party is being sought in relation to the incident.
