Gardaí in Co Wicklow are growing increasingly concerned for an elderly Alzheimer's sufferer who has been missing from a nursing home in Co Wicklow since St Stephen's Day.
Seventy-six-year-old Maura Reynolds, who also has cancer of the spine, was last seen at the Tara nursing home in Bray just after midnight on Christmas night.
She was reported missing when orderlies found her room empty the following the morning.
Mrs Reynolds is said to be very frail and unable to take care of herself and Gardaí have already appealed for everybody in the Bray area to check their lands and outhouses for any sign of her.
They have also been handing out leaflets bearing a description of the grandmother-of-nine and have appealed for information from anyone who may have been walking on Bray seafront or at Bray Head on Sunday night.
Mr Reynolds' family suspects she got dressed in the middle of the night and left through the kitchen door of the nursing home, but also believe she could not have made it more than a few hundred yards by herself.
