Gardaí are seeking a group of teenagers who allegedly attacked a man with intellectual disabilities in a Dublin park, after threatening to set him on fire.
31-year-old Paul Deaton suffered a serious head injury during the unprovoked assault in Fairview Park.
The group of up to five teenagers allegedly threatened to kill the man, and then filmed the attack on their phones.
Paul's family say he is now terrified to leave his home in Marino in case he is attacked again.
Speaking to the Anton Savage show on Today FM this morning, Paul's sister Linda said the whole family are traumatised.
"It's really affecting me and my family so much… it's shocking, vile, evil," she said.
The story of the attack first spread over social media in a post from Linda describing the alleged attack and seeking help in finding the boys involved.
"He left the house earlier and didn't say where he was going, and he knows he is not allowed go far at that hour. He went to Fairview park, to watch the diggers as he loves JCBs, near the footbridge end," she said.
She wrote that he was approached at about 7pm when the attack allegedly took place. A passing woman helped him and took him to a nearby pharmacy for treatment.
