Gardaí search for post office raiders

It's believed a gang which raided a post office in Co Roscommon today escaped with a substantial sum of cash.

It's believed a gang which raided a post office in Co Roscommon today escaped with a substantial sum of cash.

The owner of the premises was tied up and held at gun-point during the robbery in Ballinlough this morning.

At 8.30am this morning, the owner of Ballinlough post office was getting ready to open up when three men wearing balaclavas forced their way in.

Armed with a sawn-off shotgun, a knife and a hatchet, the men tied the owner up and threatened him, before escaping with what's believed to be a substantial amount of money.

Gardaí are now hunting for the raiders - who are described as young, and possibly spoke with Dublin accents.
