Gardaí search for Cork hit-and-run driver who puts boy in hospital

A 12-year-old boy is in hospital after being knocked down in an apparent hit-and-run in Cork last night.

The incident happened on Thomas Davis Street in Blackpool while the young boy was crossing the road.

The car believed to be a BMW failed to stop - a wing mirror belonging to the car however, was found at the scene.

Gardaí say this could prove crucial in tracking down the driver, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The boy is said to be in a comfortable condition at Mercy University Hospital, while the road has re-opened to traffic.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Mayfield Garda Station.
