Gardaí have ruled out foul play after a man was found with a fatal shotgun wound to the head yesterday.

The man was discovered fatally wounded in a 4x4 vehicle parked outside Askeaton cemetery, in Co Limerick.

The 39-year-old man, who was a licensed firearm holder, had recently celebrated his baby daughter's christening.

His body was removed from the scene to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem.

Gardaí said they were treating the man's death as "a tragedy".

"It is nothing criminal in nature," said a source. "It is an awful tragedy for the family."
