A man remains in garda custody in connection with the seizure of more than €1m worth of cash in Limerick over the weekend.

Gardaí question man caught digging up cash in Limerick

A man remains in garda custody in connection with the seizure of more than €1m worth of cash in Limerick over the weekend.

The discovery was made as part of an ongoing investigation into organised crime after a man was found digging up cash in a field in Portcrusha in Castleconnell on Saturday.

A 53-year-old man was arrested and is being held at Henry Street garda station.

A second man was also arrested, but he has been released without charge.
