An investigation is underway after an attempted armed robbery at a post office in Co Waterford.

An investigation is underway after an attempted armed robbery at a post office in Co Waterford.

Two men - one carrying a gun - entered the building on Main Street in Lismore at around 10am this morning.

They made their getaway in a dark coloured car after leaving the post office empty-handed.

No shots were fired and nobody was injured during the incident.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
