Gardaí are to put a number of stolen paintings on display in a bid to trace their owner.

The art was seized earlier this year during searches of a property as part of an on-going investigation.

Six of the paintings have been established as stolen, however a vast majority of the remainder are also believed to have been stolen but officers have been unable to track down the original owners.

The art will be on display at Pearse Street Garda Station in Dublin this morning.
