The Gardaí have reportedly not sought a single Anti-Social Behaviour Order since the controversial scheme was introduced six months ago.

Under the initiative, gardaí can seek an ASBO against someone involved in persistent anti-social behaviour.

The ASBO requires the person to cease their nuisance behaviour or face a possible criminal conviction.

Reports this morning say there is still widespread ignorance about the scheme within the gardaí and existing measures to deal with anti-social behaviour are still used much more widely.
