Gardaí investigating a serious assault on a man in Limerick yesterday have arrested a third person.

Gardaí investigating a serious assault on a man in Limerick yesterday have arrested a third person.

A young man was arrested this evening and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Roxboro Road Garda station.

The injured man remains in a serious condition at University College Hospital Cork.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses - and in particular to anybody in the vicinity of Edward St between 3pm and 3.30pm yesterday - to contact them.

They are also appealing for information on any sightings of a light green coloured saloon car with a partial registration number 10 KY in the area of Edward St. around the time of the incident.
