Gardaí in Waterford City are seeking information about an aggravated burglary in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A 96-year-old woman was dragged from her bed by two males during the incident.

It happened at her home at Bellview Terrace on John's Hill between 3am and 4.15am on Christmas Eve.

She was shaken by the males as they demanded money from her.

The lady was able to lock herself in a bathroom and made contact with her carer after about 30 minutes.

Some jewellery was taken during the break in and the house was ransacked.

The males are described as being late teens early 20's, of slim build and around 5ft 8’ in height.

Gardaí are asking anyone with information to come forward.
