Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident in Ennis in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident in Ennis in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The man in his mid-twenties was arrested in Ennis this afternoon under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act.

He is being questioned at Ennis Garda Station where he can be held for up to 24 hours.

Shots were fired at a home on Childers Road in Cloughleigh shortly before 5am on Wednesday January 1.

A 46-year old man was arrested in the hours after the incident, but subsequently released without charge.
