Gardaí investigate serious assault in Cork

Gardaí in Cork are today investigating an assault on a man in his 50s which has left him in a critical condition in hospital.
The man suffered serious head injuries when he was assaulted and knocked to the ground during an incident outside a pub in Mahon on Cork's south side around 1am.
He was rushed to Cork University Hospital where he is in a critical condition.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
