A technical examination will be carried out at the scene of a fatal house fire in Dublin later.

The blaze at the property on Sigurd Road in Stoneybatter saw a 53-year-old man lose his life and has left an elderly woman with serious injuries.

She is being treated at James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown following the incident yesterday evening.

Gardaí are investigating.
