Gardaí investigate fatal car accident in Co Louth


A man has died after the car he was driving collided with a tree in Co Louth this morning.

Gardaí in Dundalk are investigating the single-vehicle accident that happened on the R173 at Toprath, Carlingford, Co. Louth at around 8.45am this morning.

The 21-year-old man, who was the only person in the car, was killed when he lost control and collided with a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí have closed the road for an examination by a Garda forensic team.
