Gardaí investigate as young siblings recover from rally crash

An investigation has been launched into a crash at a car rally in Kerry which has left two youngsters in hospital yesterday.

The two-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl were injured yesterday morning when a car taking part in the Tralee rally went out of control and hit a barrier in the Ballymacelligott area at around 11.30am.

They are understood to have been viewing the Circuit of Kerry race at the time.

The toddler is being treated at Kerry General Hospital while the girl had been airlifted to Cork University Hospital by Valentia Coastguard.

The girl sustained leg injuries, but it is understood the children’s injuries are not life-threatening.

A number of adult spectators were also injured, though none seriously, it is believed.
